Youth Pastor Job Description

Purpose
The Youth Pastor plays a pivotal role in nurturing the spiritual growth and development of the young people at Radiant Life Church (RLC). This position involves creating a supportive and engaging environment where youth can explore their faith, build strong relationships, and develop a sense of purpose rooted in Christian principles. The Youth Pastor collaborates with church leadership, volunteers, and families to design and implement programs that meet the unique needs and interests of the youth.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Implementation
• Design and lead engaging and relevant youth programs that align with the church's mission and values.
• Plan and organize weekly youth group meetings and Bible studies/small groups.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee special events such as camps, mission trips, fundraisers, and community service projects.
• Develop curriculum and resources that address the spiritual, emotional, and social needs of the youth.
• Regularly provide Biblically based teaching at youth group meetings.
Mentorship and Guidance
• Provide spiritual guidance and mentorship to individual youth, helping them navigate their personal and faith journeys.
• Offer spiritual guidance and support to youth facing challenges such as peer pressure, family issues, and academic stress.
• Foster a safe and inclusive environment where all youth feel valued and respected.
Leadership and Volunteer Coordination
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers who assist with youth programs/activities.
• Encourage and empower youth to take on leadership roles within the church and community.
• Collaborate with church staff and leadership to ensure the integration of youth programs into the broader church ministry.
Communication and Outreach
• Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, and families regarding youth programs and events.
• Promote youth activities through social media, church newsletters, and other communication channels.
• Engage with the wider community to build partnerships and expand outreach opportunities for youth.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Attributes
• Has a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a growing relationship with Him.
• Possess a strong knowledge of Biblical teachings and Christian doctrine.
• Demonstrates the ability to lead by example, equip, and disciple youth. • Understands the needs of and has an affinity for young people.
• Understands Christian culture well and contextualize the Gospel accordingly.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
• Proficient with computer applications and social media.
• Creative and adaptable in developing engaging programs and activities.
• Is teachable and open to feedback and accountability.
Preferred Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Ministry, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Previous experience working with youth in a church or ministry setting.
Working Conditions/Schedule
The Youth Pastor will work in various settings, including the church, community centers, schools, and outdoor environments. Travel may be necessary for camp, mission trips, and conferences. The Youth Pastor is a full-time position and may work extended hours, evenings, over weekends and public holidays, and on short notice. This role requires flexible hours to accommodate youth activities and events. As a member of the RLC Staff, he/she is supervised by the Lead Pastor.
